The Post-Modern Mustache

In recent years, mustaches have become trendy. I can’t walk down the street in Brooklyn without witnessing the growth of the post-modern ‘stache: a new generation of young guys rocking old mustaches with varying degrees of success. This has also been accompanied by an abundance of mustache paraphernalia… that also have had varying degrees of success.

Is the current obsession with mustaches merely a passing fad? An ironic extension of the retro-throwback ideal? A reflection of society’s collective nostalgia for days of yore? And as we move further into the age of the “new mustache,” are we losing hold of the mustache’s true essence?

This blog may or may not have anything to do with these questions. But it makes a really good holiday present for my dad, who has been rocking the ‘stache since 1976.
